Japanese GT 2010 – Fuji, Japan, race report

YOKOHAMA scored another success during the third round of the Super GT, held at Fuji, Japan, on 2 May 2010, with Hideshi Matsuda and Hiroki Yoshimoto claiming third in the GT300, behind-the-wheel of their YOKOHAMA-equipped Triple A Vantage GT2.

From fourth on the grid the pair managed to overtake the third-place car during the early stages of the race to finish on the podium. The fourth and fifth places also went to two teams supported by the Japanese tyre manufacturer, with Manabu Orido and Tatsuya Kataoka crossing the finish line fourth behind-the-wheel of their YOKOHAMA’s equipped WedsSport IS350, followed by the HASEMI Sport TOMICA Z, driven by Kazuki Hoshino and Masataka Yanagida.

In the GT500 class the HIS ADVAN KONDO GT-R driven by João Paulo Lima de Oliveira and Hironobu Yasuda maintained their qualifying place to secure eighth. 

The previous Super GT round was held at the Okayama International Circuit on 4 April 2010, where the Japanese tyre manufacturer secured the top five spots in the GT300 class.

Having qualified second on the grid, the Up Start MOLA Z driven by Naoki Yokomizo and Tsubasa Abe had a strong start and managed to claim the lead after the pole-setting JLOC Lamborghini RG-3 dropped out of contention due to an extended pit stop for repair work. The Up Start MOLA Z maintained a strong pace to keep the lead and cross the line first to take the win. Second across the line was the YOKOHAMA-equipped Apple•K-ONE•Shiden of Hiroki Katoh and Hiroshi Hamaguchi, with the HASEMI SPORT TOMICA Z of Kazuki Hoshino and Masataka Yanagida. The JLOC Lamborghini RG-3 and apr COROLLA Axio completed the YOKOHAMA-supported top five finishers.

In the GT500 class the HIS ADVAN KONDO GT-R driven by Lima de Oliveira and Yasuda maintained their qualifying position to claim 12th place.
